Girls under 15’s

Girls under 15 travelled to Ashbourne Co Meath last Saturday April the 2nd to play in the Avia Rugby festival. Our team were representing Munster in this Blitz.

Their first match was against Westport from Mayo who were representing Connaught, this match was played with great commitment from our girls and they scored 5 tries and left the scoreline 25 to Abbeyfeale to 5 to Westport.

Try scorers were Grainne Sheehy, and Shauna Lane, Siobhan McCourt and Aishling Scanlon.

Our second match we were drawn against Cill Dara who were representing Lenister. This was a much tougher battle the teams were very level, and from the kick off there  was good scrum ageing done and rucking, balls were fought hard for in line outs and scrums. Cill Dara scored first with a try and converted it and Abbeyfeale came back to score a try in the corner, but did not convert. From the kick off  Abbeyfeale gained possession and Siobhan McCourt gave a chip ahead to give Shauna Lane a clear run to score a try between the posts in which Siobhan converted it. It was level pegging for the rest of the game, but Abbeyfeale came away with the win on a scoreline of Abbeyfeale  27 to Cill Dara 16.

Congratulations to our Under 15 girls who did us proud in Ashbourne and they will be a force to be reckoned with next year.

Munster blitz on next Saturday 9th of April at the grove for Under 13’s and Under 17’s. All players to be at the grove for 12.30 sharp.
